Basic Verification isn't nothing, and it isn't everything. It catches a specific, real category of problem — and being precise about which category is which is the entire reason for using the word “verified” carefully instead of letting it imply more than it delivers.

Who is this for?

This is for anyone deciding how much to trust a Jobfynder profile marked verified, and what that label does and doesn't confirm today.

What does Basic Verification actually catch?

• A real, controlled email address. Someone can actually be reached at the address on file.
• A complete profile. The required fields are filled in, not left blank or placeholder text.
• Manual review for plausibility. A person looked at the profile and didn't see an obvious red flag.

What doesn't it catch yet?

• Confirmed identity. No government ID check happens at this tier.
• Confirmed employment history. Claimed past roles aren't independently verified.
• Criminal or background history. No background check runs as part of Basic Verification.
• Claimed skills or certifications. Listed skills aren't tested or confirmed against a credential.

What does this look like in practice?

A recruiter sees a verified badge on a BSR's profile and correctly understands it means the BSR's email and profile completeness have been checked — not that their claimed employment history has been independently confirmed. That's a real trust signal, just a specific and limited one, and treating it as more than that is where trust gets misplaced.

Why draw the line this precisely?

Because the alternative — letting “verified” imply more than it delivers — is exactly the pattern that erodes trust in verification badges across the industry generally. Stating the actual scope, even when it's modest, is worth more long-term than a badge that oversells itself.

Where does this go from here?

Employment and credential verification, and eventually background checks, are planned as later tiers — not launched yet, and not implied by today's Basic Verification badge.
